A MTSU study says the Nashville Predators are now Middle Tennesseans favorite pro-team.

The hockey team beat the Tennessee Titans among midstate residents with 33 percent to 29 percent.

Although, overall in the state, Titans still reign supreme.

Fans got Preds fever this year as the team made history by competing in the Stanley Cup Final. Even though the Preds fell to the Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 6, the MTSU study shows fans were as supportive as ever for the team.

The Memphis Grizzlies dominate West Tennessee, as expected, while the Titans dominate East Tennessee, the study showed. But, MTSU said in these regions, there’s a greater percentage of fans who said they have no favorite team.

Meanwhile, in the midstate, the percentage of Preds fans far outnumbers those who reported they had no favorite team.

The study took a survey of 672 sports fans from June 10 to June 19 this year.
